About Me

Hi, I’m Mara — founder of The Birth Club
I’m a mother of three children (well pretty much adults!) feminist birth worker, antenatal educator, and doula passionate about supporting women through pregnancy and birth with knowledge, kindness, and respect.
My journey began from my own experiences and a desire to create safe, women-only spaces where every woman feels seen, heard, and empowered to make decisions about her body and birth.
With years of experience across Scotland and Spain, I bring a trauma-aware, evidence-based approach to all my work. I believe that birth is not just a medical event but a profound, personal, political, and emotional experience — one that deserves space, care, and justice.
At The Birth Club, I’m here to listen deeply, advocate fiercely, and support you fully — whether you’re preparing for your first baby, healing from a past birth, or simply seeking community.

I have written four books in Spanish around the topics of women's reproductive rights, my work about obstetric malpractices is referenced in various studies and articles and I have participated in many international conferences.

I live in Bearsden, Glasgow but I work internationally, online, and I speak Spanish and Italian fluently.
