Your Birth Coach (doula*) in Glasgow
Why I Prefer to Say “Birth Coach”

Although the term doula is widely known (and I am trained as one), I prefer to define myself as a Birth Coach because it better reflects who I am and how I work. Additionally, the word doula in Greek derives from women’s slavery.
I have professional training as an antenatal educator, and my approach is deeply rooted in feminism: I believe in support that respects your autonomy, your decisions, and your story.
I’m not here just to “be” with you, but to inform you, prepare you, and actively and consciously accompany you, with practical tools, emotional sensitivity, and a critical view of a system that often silences or infantilizes women.
As a Birth Coach, my goal is to help you feel safe, strong, and free throughout your birth process — in body, mind, and language.

Birth Coach Support — Evidence-Based and Feminist Birth Care in Glasgow

Having a birth coach by your side can make a huge difference in your pregnancy and birth experience. At The Birth Club, I offer continuous, personalised support designed to meet your unique needs and empower you throughout the whole process.

What Is a Birth Coach?

A birth coach is a woman who, through accompaniment, guidance, and personalized support, helps another develop her own potential, make conscious decisions, and achieve specific goals.
The coach does not direct or impose but facilitates self-knowledge, confidence, and effective action.
A birth coach (trained with me) is also educated in trauma and feminism.
You don’t need a coach because you are incapable — a coach will accompany you with feminist sisterhood and awareness of what it means to be a woman, so you remember that without any doubt.

How is a Birth Coach different from a Birth Doula?

At The Birth Club, we believe birth is political — and so is how we support women.

Birth Coaches bring active, feminist, and political commitment to preparing women for birth. We empower women to understand their rights, understand the impact of medical systems, and find their own voice — before, during, and after birth. Also during abortion and miscarriages.

Doulas offer quiet, steady presence during labour — holding space with compassionate, non-judgmental support.

Both roles honour women’s strength — one through active empowerment and advocacy, the other through calm, loving presence. Together, they build a powerful sisterhood of support and suit the different needs of different women.
